Thrift Store Finds

This has been a hobby of mine for the past several years. I like to go to the local thrift store and look for potential home decor items that I can sort of "rehab" for my own home decor. True, at the thrift store these items can look pretty beat up, but with a little vision and some TLC, these items can be a very fast, easy, and inexpensive way to decorate your home. Here is one of my latest finds. A pretty mundane set of canisters. The whole set was only $4.00.
My favorite trick -- SPRAY PAINT BABY! Two fast coats later, and look at the difference!

A little bit of sanding to antique the canisters and bring out some of the detail, and a quick coat of clear spray varnish later, and cha ching! A completely different set of canisters!

This whole project cost only about $7.00 when the price of the paint that was used is included. A beautiful and colorful addition for my kitchen, at a whole lot less than I would have had to pay in a retail store!
