A Time-Saving Freezer System

I love the freezer! As long as you have the space, I would highly recommend investing in a deep freezer, our house could not operate without one. In fact, we have two of them! Though freezing foods can be very economical, the biggest complaint for using a deep freezer is that, as the food stacks one on top of the other, it can be very hard to locate what you are looking for once the freezer is full. As much as I love freezing my food, I have been bothered by this same issue. Several months ago, I found this freezer system in Better Homes and Gardens magazine, and I have loved it!This is an upright deep freezer. I like to keep ready-made breakfasts and lunches in this one so my husband can easily grab what he needs for the day as he heads off for work. Investing a little time here will save you HUGE amounts of time later! Place a container in the freezer for each catagory of foods you tend to freeze most. Shelving for things like pies, pizzas, and pre-made cassaroles are a great addition. Now all of the foods are neatly compartmentalized and easily located. This system also makes shopping much more efficient because I am aware of exactly what is in the freezer and what needs to be replaced.

For my meats, I use a half-sized deep freezer. Labeling where each type of meat belongs helps keep the catagories separated. Now, instead of tossing and turning all the meat over when I am in search of a couple of chicken breasts, all the meat is very easily located and clearly labeled.

A truely time-saving, cost-effective system!

  1. This is such a great idea. I have been thinking about trying this with my family. I have so little time to cook with three little ones. Thanks for the tips.
